The African American 1619-1968 ©2016
Frank Perkins, Visual Artist and Historian

A History and Coloring Set of Cards for the period from 1619 to 1968, where American
Africans were held in bondage for the sole purpose of labor, and after they were freed, they were
unable to enjoy the rights and privileges of their former oppressors, and what was denied to them in
The United States Constitution. Chronicled here is the story of overcoming challenges up to the
pinnacles of the Civil Rights Movement, with the courage of those who made things happen.

A Photographic Odyssey of Peace from Around the World
P. K. McCary and Morad Al Jarrah

SIX INCREDIBLE EXHIBITIONS AROUND THE WORLD with the photographs from the
people who WANT and help CREATE a better world. The competition was a labor of not only
love, but of PURPOSE. This is what the Kwanzaa principle of NIA means to me. The purpose
was to gather people’s vision of what building cultures of peace, justice, and healing means to
others around the world. And the real purpose behind the photographs lies in the hearts and
minds of the photographs, but the need of each person who views a photo, stands in awe at one
in particular, and is changed. See more photos at

AFRICAN FOLK TALES

Collected Stories of African Wisdom
Raymond Johnson, Jr., Historian

African folk tales have been around for centuries. The beauty of Africa shines through the stories of
creation, animals that talk, and the wisdom of African proverbs and sayings. Raymond Johnson has
collected these stories for years, using them in his practice as a therapist. He discovered,
while counseling families, that using an opening story brought calmness and attention while
reducing the defensiveness of family members. This opens the door for future abstract thought
development. Overall, these stories enforce the wisdom of the ages from the African Continent.
